Born and raised in southern California, Josh Hoke has always had a passion for gaming and learning how things work. In 2017, he and his friends took a road trip to check out an arcade machine for sale and made the purchase. Josh was immediately hooked and realized he wanted to make a career out of this. Since then, Josh has purchased and restored over 70 arcade machines! Once Josh found the perfect location inside The 9 Building located at 100 N 9th St, Retro Rush LLC was born! This arcade now offers over 50 arcade games, pinball machines, and console stations including NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, and Sega Genesis, just to name a few. Located downstairs alongside Blast From The Past and Suzie’s Pizza, this arcade provides hours of fun with numerous classic games available! Retro Rush offers daily unlimited play for just $8.00, with a midweek special on Wednesdays for just $5.00! Retro Rush LLC would love to host your next birthday party, work gathering, or team building event and even offers a 3,000 square foot gymnasium. Outside of work, Josh enjoys working on his 1970 Mustang and spending time with his family. His wife, Chelsea, and their daughter, Evelyn, also help in the arcade to make sure everything is ready to go. Josh had this to say about Retro Rush and the downtown area; “I wanted to offer something for everyone. We have such a wide range of fan favorite arcade games and some of them are my personal favorites, such as Soul Calibur 3, Outrun 2, and Sound Voltex. The memories that are tied to these games are what truly makes them so much fun. I love Richmond and being downtown. I was very surprised when we moved here as to just how friendly and helpful everyone is.”
